GUNMEN ATTACK PLATEAU COMMUNITY, KILL HUSBAND, WIFE AND ONE OTHER

A man and his wife, identified as Mr. Titus Brigade and Mrs. Rahab Titus Brigade, alongside another resident, Mrs. Laitu Pius, were reportedly killed on Monday by suspected Fulani militia during an attack on Tukur village in Kinat, Mangu Halle District of Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State.
A youth leader in the community, Markus Lonkat, who confirmed the incident in a phone interview, said the victims were attacked while working on their farm.
He said about five other persons sustained injuries in the assault, which he described as unprovoked, adding that residents were shocked by the violence despite years of peaceful coexistence in the area. Lonkat condemned the attack and called on security agencies, including Operation Enduring Peace, to take urgent action to prevent further incidents.
In a separate development, the Chairman of Mangu LGA, Emmanuel Bala Mwolpun, also condemned another attack on Gwomjang Community in Kadunu Ward, Gindiri District, which reportedly left eight people dead and 15 others injured.
According to community sources, the attackers stormed the area around 7:30pm, opened fire on residents, and fled into nearby bushes after the assault. The injured victims are currently receiving treatment at a local clinic.
In response, the council chairman described the attacks as barbaric and assured that efforts were underway to support victims, including plans to move the injured to the University of Jos Teaching Hospital for advanced medical care, with the local government covering the expenses.
