HAALAND BREAKS INTO ELITE AS HE OVERTAKES RONALDO, IBRAHIMOVIĆ

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has moved ahead of Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazário and Sweden’s Zlatan Ibrahimović on the list of all-time international goalscorers.

Haaland reached the milestone on Friday after scoring twice in Norway’s 3-2 victory over Denmark ahead of their upcoming UEFA Nations League clash with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.

The Manchester City striker once again demonstrated his importance to the Norwegian national team, producing a decisive performance as Norway secured victory after Denmark had fought back from a two-goal deficit.

Norway took the lead in the 14th minute through Oscar Bobb before Haaland doubled the advantage four minutes later.

The 25-year-old has now scored 64 goals in 56 appearances for Norway, giving him an impressive international scoring rate of more than one goal per game.

His latest goals moved him beyond Ronaldo Nazário and Zlatan Ibrahimović, who both finished their international careers with 62 goals.

Haaland reached the 64-goal mark in just 56 matches, while Ronaldo Nazário needed 98 appearances and Ibrahimović made 122 appearances to reach their respective totals.

Haaland will now turn his attention to Norway’s next Nations League fixture against Portugal, where he will come up against Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese captain remains the leading goalscorer in men’s international football history, having scored 146 goals for his country.
