LAGOS COMMENCES COMPENSATION TO LANDOWNERS FOR NYSC CAMP PROJECT IN EPE

The development of the new ultra-modern National Youth Service Corps Permanent Orientation Camp in Epe has reached a major milestone, with the Lagos State Government commencing the payment of compensation to Project Affected Persons (PAPs) whose properties fall within the designated project area.
The affected communities are located along the Odo Ayandelu, Ota Ikosi and Agbowa axis of Epe Local Government Area.
The compensation exercise is aimed at ensuring a fair and transparent settlement for verified landowners and property owners while clearing the way for the construction of the permanent NYSC orientation camp.
Under the arrangement, payments are being made to verified individuals whose land or properties are affected by the project, paving the way for the relocation of the existing temporary and congested orientation camp at Iyana-Ipaja to the new permanent site.
The peaceful settlement is also expected to strengthen cooperation between the state government and host communities while ensuring that affected stakeholders receive appropriate compensation for their properties.
Beyond the development of the camp, the project is expected to stimulate significant socio-economic activities across the Epe division through increased real estate development, commercial expansion and new business opportunities for local traders, suppliers and service providers.
The permanent facility is also projected to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for youths within the host communities during the construction and eventual operation of the camp.
When completed, the facility is expected to feature modern clinics, hostels, sporting facilities and skill acquisition centres aimed at providing corps members with improved facilities and a better orientation experience throughout their service year.
The commencement of compensation payments represents a significant step towards the realisation of the permanent NYSC orientation camp and reflects the Lagos State Government’s approach of combining infrastructure development with stakeholder engagement and community welfare.
The project is expected to contribute to the long-term development of the Epe axis while providing a modern and purpose-built environment for NYSC activities in Lagos State.
