Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the immediate release of two buses, a 32-seater and an 18-seater, to Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan to support the team’s activities.

The state Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Sunday.

Oyelade said the governor’s gesture followed Shooting Stars’ impressive victory over Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary-round tie at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

He said the approval demonstrated the state government’s commitment to supporting the Oluyole Warriors as they represent Oyo State on the continental stage.

Shooting Stars’ participation in the ongoing continental competition marks the club’s first appearance in continental football in 27 years.

Oyelade added that Makinde had assured the club’s supporters and fans that the government would continue to provide the necessary support to help the team remain in contention for continental honours.

He said the government was determined not only to sustain the club’s current momentum but also to restore the former glory of the “Darling Club of Oyo State.”

The commissioner urged the players, technical crew and management of Shooting Stars to remain focused and committed, assuring them of the state government’s continued support.
