The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has accused Governor Seyi Makinde of using public resources to pursue his presidential ambition, warning that he would be held accountable for the funds allegedly spent on the project.

The party made the allegation in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Sadare.

Makinde is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Oyo APC described his presidential bid as a “mere charade,” alleging that the governor lacked the personal qualities, experience and strategy required to lead Nigeria.

The party said Makinde would be required to account for the resources allegedly expended on his presidential campaign after the expiration of his tenure as governor.

“Makinde knows, in his mind, that contesting for the Nigerian presidency is not a child’s play.

“While he does not possess the personal quality, experience and strategy to be the next President in 2027, yet he is parading himself as the presidential candidate of the structureless Allied Peoples Movement,” the statement said.

The APC said it was monitoring Makinde’s political activities and alleged that his presidential bid was unlikely to succeed.

“Makinde is being monitored as he embarks on a political journey that has failed before its commencement, while he would be made to cough out all the public funds he wasted on it,” the party added.
