MC OLUOMO, POLITICIANS MOURN DEATH OF ‘BABA ALADO’ AT 83

Politicians, socialites and transport stakeholders in Lagos State have mourned the death of Chief Taoreed Faronbi, popularly known as “Baba Alado,” who passed away at the age of 83.

Faronbi died in the early hours of Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Until his death, he served as the Olori Ebi, or head, of the Alagbeji Royal Family in Papa Ajao, Mushin. He also held several traditional and commercial titles, including Akinrogun of Isolo Kingdom and Babaloja of Aswani International Market.

For several decades, Faronbi remained a prominent figure in Lagos grassroots politics, real estate and the transport sector.

His family announced his death on Saturday, after which his remains were buried according to Islamic rites.

The funeral attracted family members, friends, residents and prominent political and community figures who gathered to pay their final respects.

Among those in attendance were Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Tunbosun Aruwe, and Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Dr Oluseyi Jakande.

Faronbi was also a notable figure within the National Union of Road Transport Workers, where he was widely recognised as a leader.

Reacting to his death, the National President of the NURTW, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, expressed sadness over the loss.

MC Oluomo, in an official statement, described Faronbi as a man who made a lasting impact and whose name would continue to be remembered.

He said Faronbi’s contributions, relationships and presence within the transport and community sectors would not be forgotten.

Beyond politics and the transport industry, Faronbi was a well-known socialite who enjoyed recognition from prominent Fuji and juju musicians, including K1 De Ultimate, Osupa Saheed and Alabi Pasuma.

He was also involved in land development and real estate, although his activities in the sector occasionally resulted in legal and communal disputes.

His death has continued to attract tributes from political associates, transport stakeholders, socialites and residents across Mushin.
