MIDLIFE HEALTH: DAMES HUB, PARTNERS HOLD WELLNESS SEMINAR FOR MEN, WOMEN IN ILORIN (PHOTOS)

Dames Hub Wellness Initiative, in collaboration with Chances and Opportunities Inc., Texas; the Catholic Diocese of Ilorin; ELBE PHARMA Nigeria Ltd.; and the Rotary Club Ilorin-Sunrise, has held a midlife wellness seminar for men and women in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Upper Hall of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Taiwo Isale, Ilorin, the seminar formed part of activities commemorating the 88th Birthday, 60 Years of Priestly Ordination and 55 Years of Episcopal Ministry of Archbishop Emeritus Felix Alaba Adeosin Job.

With the theme, “Andropause & Menopause: Men and Women Dealing with Midlife,” the programme focused on providing participants with practical health education and expert guidance on the physical, hormonal, emotional and lifestyle changes associated with midlife.
Separate sessions were held for men and women, with health experts providing guidance on issues associated with male and female midlife health.
For the men’s session, Dr. Muhammed Oyeniyi Rasheed, MBBS, MPH, MHPM, FWACP, Deputy Director and Programme Manager, AIDS, STI & Hepatitis Control, Kwara State Ministry of Health, served as Guest Speaker.

He addressed participants on andropause and the physical, hormonal and lifestyle changes that may occur during male midlife.
Women at the programme were addressed by Joan Olayinka Job Zeni, BSc Psychology, a Registered Nurse Midwife and Chief Nursing Officer at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State.
Her session focused on menopause, women’s midlife health and the changes women may experience during this stage of life.
Through expert presentations, practical health education and interactive discussions, participants gained relevant information to better recognise, understand and manage midlife hormonal, physical and lifestyle changes.

Beyond the medical aspects, the seminar encouraged healthier and more intentional living, while providing an avenue for participants to discuss concerns surrounding midlife health.
Participants included men and women aged 40 and above, caregivers, family members and others interested in promoting healthier, better-informed and more confident living through midlife and beyond.
The Dames Hub Wellness Initiative team was led by the organisation’s Public Relations and Stakeholder Engagement Lead, Ms. Justina Akpan, alongside the Creative Design and Brand Communications Lead, Mr. Vincent Abuchi.
Graphic design support was provided by Cixclothier, while MTM Consulting facilitated Human Resources coordination.
