The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has confirmed a meeting with Comfort Emanson, the Ibom Air passenger involved in a heated altercation with crew members during a flight from Uyo to Lagos on August 10, 2025.

NCAA spokesperson, Michael Achimugu, disclosed the development on Thursday via his official X handle, noting that Emanson attended the meeting in Abuja alongside her lawyer. He, however, declined to provide further details.

Earlier, the NCAA had held separate sessions with the airline’s crew, including flight attendant Julie Edwards, as part of its ongoing investigation into the incident. Achimugu explained that the authority’s directorates of aviation security, operations, licensing and training standards, legal, and consumer protection are jointly handling the probe to ensure a thorough conclusion.

The controversy began when Emanson clashed with a flight attendant mid-flight and later confronted security officials at the Lagos airport. Viral videos showed the confrontation, sparking divided public reactions some faulting Emanson for assaulting crew, while others criticized the attendant for blocking her from disembarking.

Following the incident, Emanson was arrested by police, arraigned in a Lagos court, and remanded in prison. She was subsequently released after charges against her were dropped.

The NCAA has yet to announce the outcome of its investigation.
