Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to sustain his efforts towards providing good governance and delivering democratic dividends to the people of the state.

Obasanjo made the call during a surprise congratulatory visit to Adeleke at his residence in Ede on Sunday, according to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Monday.

The former president, who was accompanied by Oyewole Fasawe, was received by Adeleke with dancing and praise to God following the governor’s victory in the recent governorship election.

During the visit, Obasanjo congratulated Adeleke on his electoral success and prayed for greater achievements in office.

He urged the governor to remain focused on meeting the needs of the people and maintaining good governance.

“Continue to deliver good governance. Continue to meet the needs of your people,” Obasanjo said.

In his response, Adeleke expressed appreciation for the former president’s visit and pledged to remain committed to serving the people of Osun State.

“Baba, I thank you for this surprise visit. I promise never to disappoint God, the Osun people and all lovers of democracy who made our victory possible,” the governor said.

The Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi, accompanied Adeleke during the visit.

Adeleke was declared winner of the Saturday governorship election by the State Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday.

He secured 511,067 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
