The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspected thief, Adam Muhammed, and recovered a motorcycle and a generator allegedly stolen by him and an accomplice who escaped during a police operation in Itori, the headquarters of Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.

The arrest followed a tip-off from a motorist who reportedly spotted an unregistered tricycle conveying the items along the Onigbedu–Itori Road on Sunday morning.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.

According to Babaseyi, the incident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on October 25, 2026, when the motorist noticed a grey Haojue Lady motorcycle and a Firman generator being transported in the tricycle by two occupants.

Suspecting that the items might have been stolen, the motorist alerted the police while trailing the tricycle to Complex Junction, Itori, towards Papalanto.

Acting on the information, police operatives intercepted the tricycle, but the two occupants reportedly attempted to escape.

However, one of the suspects, identified as Adam Muhammed, was apprehended after a hot chase, while efforts are ongoing to track down his fleeing accomplice.

The police spokesperson said preliminary investigations had linked the recovered motorcycle and generator to a reported theft in Itori.

She added that the suspect remained in custody as detectives intensified investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that all those involved were brought to justice.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their swift response, noting that timely intelligence and effective police action were essential to preventing crime and protecting property.

Ojajuni also praised the motorist for his vigilance and civic responsibility, which enabled the police to intervene and recover the suspected stolen items.

The police commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining proactive patrols, responding promptly to credible intelligence and preventing criminal activities across Ogun State.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to the authorities, stressing that timely information from members of the public could help prevent crime and protect lives and property.
