PALMPAY ADDS EXTRA VERIFICATION FOR NIGHT-TIME TRANSFERS

PalmPay has introduced NightGuard, a new security feature designed to provide customers with an additional verification step for transfers made during designated hours.

The fintech company disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, saying the feature is available through its upgraded Security Centre.

According to PalmPay, customers can set a protection window between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., during which transfer attempts will require additional verification before they can be completed.

The company said the measure is aimed at strengthening account security as digital payments become increasingly common in Nigeria.

It added that the feature addresses security risks faced by users, including scams, impersonation and unauthorised access to accounts.

While fraud can happen at any time, there are situations where a compromised or lost phone can create additional risks at night,” Head of PalmPay Nigeria Marketing, Femi Hanson, said in the statement. “Giving customers more control over when additional verification is required can provide another layer of protection.”

PalmPay said the feature is intended to give customers greater control over the security of their accounts and transactions, particularly during periods when unusual activity may be less likely to be noticed.

NightGuard forms part of the security tools available through PalmPay’s Security Center. The company also said customer education remains an important component of its efforts to improve digital-payment security.

The feature allows users to apply additional verification during a defined period rather than requiring the extra security check for every transfer.
