Here’s a cleaner rephrased version:
Rights activist Aisha Yesufu has clarified that former Peter Obi presidential candidate is not her godfather but her principal.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Yesufu explained that she was never a member of the Labour Party, but supported Obi because she believes he demonstrates empathy, patriotism, and genuine concern for Nigeria’s progress.
She stated that she was previously a member of the African Democratic Congress before moving to the Nigerian Democratic Congress.
Yesufu also revealed her intention to transition from activism into politics, stressing that her primary responsibility as a lawmaker would be to ensure executive accountability.
She noted that if elected to represent the Federal Capital Territory in the Senate, she would oppose what she described as unnecessary loan requests from the executive, regardless of who is president.
“I do not have a godfather. Peter Obi is not my godfather; he is my principal,” she said.
She reiterated that she was never affiliated with the Labour Party, describing herself instead as a supporter of Obi based on her belief in his leadership qualities and commitment to national development.
According to her, her decision to enter politics is driven by a desire to strengthen accountability in governance.
She added that even if Obi were president, she would not hesitate to challenge any frivolous loan requests presented to the Senate, insisting that her duty would be to represent the interests of the people of the FCT above all else.
