GUNMEN RAID KWARA POLICE DIVISION, EMIR’S PALACE, KIDNAP 10 RESIDENTS

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed an attack by suspected bandits on the Yashikira Police Divisional Headquarters and the palace of the Emir of Yashikira in Yashikira.
The incident was disclosed in a statement issued on May 25, 2026, by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi.
According to the statement, the attackers launched the coordinated assault at about 2:00 a.m., setting part of the Emir’s palace on fire and abducting 10 people during the operation.
Police authorities said officers on duty successfully repelled the attack on the divisional headquarters.
The statement added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi, has ordered a full-scale security operation involving other security agencies, forest guards, and local vigilantes to rescue the abducted victims and apprehend those responsible.
“These criminals have declared war against peace-loving citizens, and we are fully prepared to pursue them relentlessly,” the commissioner said.
