A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kenneth Okonkwo, has released what he described as evidence to support his allegations of bribery against the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi.

Okonkwo had earlier alleged on Monday that Obi and other NDC leaders in the South-East collected N10 million and N20 million from House of Representatives and senatorial aspirants respectively.

He further claimed that one of the aspirants, Obunike Ohaegbu, informed him of the alleged payments and provided a receipt as evidence.

The allegation has since led to legal action from Obi’s lawyers.

Backing his claims, Okonkwo on Wednesday shared alleged WhatsApp conversations on his X handle, said to be between him and Ohaegbu, in which details of the alleged party primaries were discussed.

According to Okonkwo’s post, Ohaegbu allegedly stated that when he questioned the party over who authorised the payments, he was told that Peter Obi and caucus leaders assembled by him were responsible.
