Protest in Abuja Over Herdsmen Killings
It was another day of protest in Abuja, the nation’s capital. This time, it was a peaceful protest to the national assembly by the people of Numan Federation from Adamawa state, North East, Nigeria.
The protesters came all the way from Adamawa to vent their anger on what they described as the continuous killings of innocent people in their communty by herdsmen.
They all dressed in blacks. carrying placards and banners with different inscriptions on it. The protesters are indigenes of Numan Federation from Bwatiye tribe. The people of Bwatiye are found in at least eleven local governments in Adamawa state. Their purpose for this protest is simple; herdsmen rampage in their land.
Women, men, young girls and boy and even the elderly say they are in Abuja to meet with their representatives in the national assembly whom they said are not doing enough to stop the killings going on in their land.
The protesters say they need assurances from government that their land will not be run over anymore by the herdsmen who maim and kill at will.
