The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a six-man kidnapping syndicate allegedly involved in the abduction of a man in Port Harcourt.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Blessing Agabe, disclosed this in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Monday.
The police also rescued the victim, identified as Hassan, who was held captive for three days before his relatives reportedly paid N10.3 million in ransom for his release.
According to the statement, Hassan was abducted on September 6, 2026, around Fidelity Bank in the Garrison area of Port Harcourt.
The kidnappers reportedly took him to Igbugulu Waterside in Borikiri, where he was held for three days.
The command received information about the abduction on September 7 and immediately deployed operatives of its Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU-AKU) to investigate the incident.
Following an intelligence-led operation, the operatives arrested two suspected members of the kidnapping syndicate.
Preliminary investigations reportedly showed that the suspects confessed to their alleged involvement in the abduction and revealed that the gang consists of six members who used a white minibus during the operation.
The police said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the syndicate, who are still at large.
The command assured residents that it would continue to intensify operations aimed at tracking down the suspects and bringing all those involved to justice.
