SECURITY OPERATIVES RESCUE WOMAN, THREE CHILDREN ABDUCTED IN EDO

A 40-year-old woman, Patience Omonete, and her three children, aged 14, 12 and 10, have been rescued after they were reportedly abducted from Onomi Farm in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The victims were kidnapped on September 3, 2026, according to the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, who disclosed this in a statement.
Ikoedem said the victims were rescued by a combined team of security operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Okpella.
She said the DPO mobilised police personnel, members of the Edo State Security Corps and local hunters, who conducted a coordinated operation in the forest around Onomi-Iddo, Okpella.
According to the police spokesperson, the sustained manhunt mounted by the security team forced the kidnappers to abandon the victims in the forest.
“The woman and her three children were subsequently rescued unhurt and reunited with their family,” Ikoedem said.

She added that security operatives were continuing efforts to identify and arrest those responsible for the abduction.
In a related development, Ikoedem disclosed that a 49-year-old woman, Rita Emma, was abducted alongside her husband in Iruekpen, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
She said Emma was later rescued by a joint team comprising the police, Police Mobile Force 82 Squadron, Nigerian Army, Edo State Security Corps and local vigilantes.
Ikoedem said a 32-year-old man, Alhassan Adamu, was arrested in connection with the incident.
She explained that the joint bush-combing operation, led by the Iruekpen DPO, resulted in Emma’s rescue from the forest at about 5:30am on September 4.
The police spokesperson said the victim was found almost unconscious and was immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention.
She added that the suspect had been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation, while efforts were ongoing to rescue Emma’s husband and apprehend other members of the suspected kidnapping gang.
