The Sardauna Local Government Council in Taraba State has launched a joint night patrol operation across Gembu Metropolis as part of measures aimed at enhancing security, protecting lives and property, and curbing criminal activities.

The council said the initiative forms part of its renewed commitment to strengthening public safety and maintaining law and order within the area.

The directive, approved by the Executive Chairman of the council, M. J. Umar, was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Administration and General Services, Eric Mathew Vakude.

According to the statement, the operation commenced on July 6, 2026, and will run daily from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

To enforce the directive, a combined team of security personnel has been deployed across Gembu Metropolis to conduct routine patrols and monitor compliance.

The council warned that individuals found moving around the town during the restricted hours would be apprehended by security operatives.

Residents were therefore urged to remain indoors during the patrol period and cooperate with security agencies to ensure the success of the exercise.

The local government explained that the operation is part of broader efforts to create a safer environment, deter criminal activities and guarantee the security of residents throughout Gembu Metropolis.
