A Magistrate Court in the Isabo area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, has ordered the remand of three men accused of involvement in the killing of retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Ms. Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo.
Delivering the ruling on Monday, Chief Magistrate O.T. Odubanjo of Court 3 directed that the suspects — Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, Sobu Obafunsho and Shakirudeen Ayoola — be held at the Oba Correctional Centre for 60 days pending legal advice from the Ogun State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The order followed an ex parte application filed by the Ogun State Police Command, which sought the suspects’ remand while investigations and prosecutorial processes are completed.
Police Legal Officer A.S. Abiodun, attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, told the court that the application, dated July 6, requested the detention of the suspects for an initial 60-day period pending legal advice from the DPP and subsequent arraignment before a competent court.
He said the application was brought under Section 306 of the Ogun State Administration of Criminal Justice Law, 2017, and was supported by a 24-paragraph affidavit sworn to by ASP Saka of the SCID Homicide Section.

According to Abiodun, 17 exhibits and a written address were also submitted in support of the request, which he argued was necessary in the interest of justice.
After considering the application, Chief Magistrate Odubanjo granted the request and ordered the suspects’ remand at the correctional facility. The case was adjourned until September 10, 2026.
Speaking after the proceedings, Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the court’s decision, stating that the suspects were remanded pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
He assured the public that the police would pursue the case diligently and ensure that all those involved in the killings are brought to justice.
Oyesiku, a retired employee of Ogun State Television, and her security guard were found dead at her residence in Agodo, Abeokuta, in June after residents reportedly raised concerns about unusual activities around the property.
Police investigators who responded to the scene reportedly discovered signs of forced entry and a ransacked house. Adetayo’s body was found at the security post, while Oyesiku’s remains were later discovered inside the residence.
The deceased broadcaster’s Lexus RX330 SUV, which was allegedly stolen during the attack, was later recovered by investigators.
Earlier, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, disclosed that detectives made significant progress in the investigation after recovering a handwritten note from the stolen vehicle.
According to him, forensic examination of the note helped investigators identify and arrest the prime suspect, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, 22, at a construction site in the Ibara area of Abeokuta on June 24.
Two other suspects, identified as Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, were subsequently arrested.
Police alleged that Philip confessed to coordinating the attack, claiming he acted over grievances he harboured against the deceased while working as her security guard.
Investigators further alleged that the suspects overpowered Adetayo before using him to gain access to Oyesiku’s residence, where both victims were killed.
The police also recovered several items believed to be linked to the crime, including a broken hammer, a cutlass, a wooden plank and a black pen, while the stolen Lexus SUV was traced and recovered through intelligence-led operations in Abeokuta.
