President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned recent gunmen attacks in Plateau and Kaduna States, calling the incidents barbaric and unacceptable.
The attacks took place in the Angwan Rukuba district of Jos and Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area, resulting in multiple deaths and abductions, including some wedding guests.
In a statement on Tuesday, issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President assured Nigerians that those responsible would face justice.
He added, “Anyone who sneaks under the cover of night to kill defenseless citizens, as happened in Jos and Kahir village, is a heartless coward. By targeting soft spots in Jos, their goal is not only to inflict harm but also to provoke reprisal attacks and more bloodshed.”
Tinubu directed security agencies to intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators and curb the spread of misinformation capable of escalating tensions. He also cautioned sections of the media against suggesting that the attacks were religiously motivated.
The President reaffirmed that security agencies were actively addressing the situation and stressed the importance of public cooperation.
“I urge our security agencies to be more proactive in preventing these attacks by acting on early warning intelligence. All the remaining abductees from Kahir village must be rescued immediately,” he said.

“I commend Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State for his work in managing the situation in Jos, and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State for assisting with the rescue and containment efforts. I assure both the people and governments of these states of my full support,” the President stated.
President Tinubu extended his condolences to the families of the victims and wished those injured a speedy recovery, while reaffirming the government’s commitment to enhancing security measures nationwide.
“Our administration is in the process of acquiring advanced equipment to enable our security agencies to track and neutralize criminals in real time, wherever they may be,” he added.
