VICE PRESIDENT SHETTIMA COMMENCES TWO-WEEK VACATION

Vice President Kashim Shettima has commenced a two-week leave approved by President Bola Tinubu, marking his first official break since taking office on May 29, 2023.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, said Shettima would use the period for study, reflection and intellectual renewal to enhance his capacity for national service.
According to the statement, the leave will allow the Vice President to assess the administration’s ongoing programmes, deepen his understanding of emerging national and global policy issues, and prepare for the next phase of implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Presidency noted that since assuming office, Shettima has played a key role in coordinating strategic government initiatives spanning economic development, food security, humanitarian affairs, digital transformation, job creation and regional cooperation.
As Chairman of the National Economic Council, the Vice President has also led discussions with state governors, the Central Bank of Nigeria and other senior officials on economic policies and national development.
The statement further highlighted Shettima’s role in representing President Tinubu at major international and regional engagements, including the G20 and AU-EU summits.
Nkwocha said the Vice President remains committed to supporting the administration’s goals of building a more secure, productive and prosperous Nigeria and is expected to resume official duties on or around August 20, 2026.v
