VIDEO: OYO RECEIVES TWO SURVEILLANCE AIRCRAFT TO STRENGTHEN SECURITY OPERATIONS

The Oyo State Government has received the two long-awaited security surveillance aircraft acquired to enhance security operations across the state.
The aircraft arrived at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, Ibadan, on Tuesday, and are expected to strengthen aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering and rapid security response in Oyo State and neighbouring areas.
In a statement released in Ibadan, the state capital, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, said the arrival of the aircraft represents another milestone in the government’s efforts to improve security through advanced intelligence and monitoring systems.

Oyelade recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde had on July 18, 2026, announced that the aircraft had arrived in Nigeria and were undergoing reassembly at the Nigerian Air Force hangar in Lagos.
He added that the state government had earlier assured residents that the aircraft would be delivered to Oyo before the end of July, noting that the development fulfilled that promise.
According to the commissioner, the aircraft will assist security agencies, including the Amotekun Corps and other relevant formations, in tracking criminal activities and enhancing response operations across the state.
He further disclosed that Governor Makinde would be at the airport to formally receive the aircraft.
The state government had announced the purchase of the two surveillance aircraft on July 8, 2025, as part of measures to strengthen the capacity of security agencies to address emerging security threats.
The arrival of the aircraft follows months after the governor unveiled plans to acquire modern aerial surveillance equipment to support efforts against kidnapping, banditry and other forms of criminality in the state.
