VIRAL VIDEO: IMO POLICE CLARIFY ASSAULT OF WOMAN, BROTHER IN OKIGWE

The Imo State Police Command has clarified a viral video circulating on social media showing the alleged assault of a young woman and her brother in Okigwe.

The siblings were reportedly travelling to Abia State University when they were allegedly attacked by armed men.

In a statement, the Command said the men seen in the video are not police officers, but personnel of the Imo State Vigilante Organisation.

The suspects were identified as Ejiogu Nchekwube and Caleb Onyebuchi. Police said both men have been arrested and are currently being detained at the Okigwe Divisional Police Headquarters as investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to professionalism, accountability and respect for the rights of members of the public.

Bosso assured the public that anyone found culpable in the incident would face appropriate sanctions in accordance with the law.

The Command urged members of the public to remain calm and avoid circulating unverified information, advising them to rely on official channels for accurate updates.

Police said further information would be made available as the investigation progresses.
