HOW A MOTHER-OF-THREE TURNED HOUSE-CHORES INTO A ‘JOB FAIR’ FOR HER KIDS

Read Time:1 Minute, 2 Second

So, there is this mother of three who thought the way to teach her children an important life lesson about earning money, is to turn household chores into job applications. Wait for it!

Shaketha Marion McGregor from Georgia simply turned her ‘momma-challenge’ into an ‘importunity’ to move her beloved children from being pestering, nagging children every time they needed money, to business-minded young individuals who value money and identify that the legal means of making it is by creating value.

She created a hiring event where her kids had to apply for “jobs” around the house, which means, they will literally have to work for their allowance, just like adults.

The jobs for the children were kitchen manager, laundry supervisor and lead housekeeper.

Shaketha’s oldest son Jahkeem is 13, daughter Takeia is 10 and daughter Serinity is 6. Naturally, the everyday needs can be quite expensive for a large family, so she came up with this brilliant idea.

To show them she meant business, she even sent her son a rejection letter after he applied for a position that had already been filled. OMG!

Shaketha is an author, convener of THIS MOM MEANS BUSINESS INC., co-founder of CRossAction Outreach, studies at Liberty University.
