RIVERS POLICE CONFIRM ARREST OF PDP LAWMAKER WITH $498,100 CASH FOR SHARING DURING ELECTION

Police Officers from Rivers State Command deployed to Independendent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Rivers State Headquarters have arrested one Hon Chinyere Igwe, member House of Representatives representing Port Harcourt II Federal Constituency with a cash sum of $498,100 inside a bag in his car.

The lawmaker was arrested at the Aba Road headquarters of INEC early Friday morning at about 2:45am

Also recovered was a list for distribution of the money.

Sources have also leaked the sharing formula that shows how much is intended to paid to each entity.

In a press statement by the Rivers State Police Command, the Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko; said that the “AIG Election, AIG Abutu Yaro fdc has ordered swift interrogation and arraignment in court.

“The Command urges all contestants and political parties to comply strictly with provisions of the Electoral Act and other relevant laws.”
