BASE PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE PRIVATIZATION ON COMPETENCE, NOT CONNECTION – AKIM YUSUF URGES GOVT
The governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party in the 2023 gubernatorial election in Oyo State, Akim Yusuf, has urged all tiers of government in the country to base the privatization and concessioning of public infrastructure on competence rather than on connections or personalities.
The politician and banker disclosed this while speaking on a radio programme in Ibadan on Thursday, January 18th.
Yusuf says privatization as a better “bitter pill” to swallow if the country is to tame the greed and corruption that have rendered public utilities inefficient and sometimes, comatose.
He also emphasised the need for all levels of Government to substantially improve the quality of education and healthcare at all levels to reduce the pressure the Nation’s foreign exchange reserves due to the need for foreign education and medical tourism.
While speaking on the recent explosion incident that occurred in the Bodija area of the city, Dr. Yusuf advised the public against hasty speculations whilst calling for thorough investigation and subsequent preventive action by the security and other government agencies.
