The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has handed over a suspected Indian hemp dealer and two accomplices to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.

The suspects were arrested in Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, following a successful operation by NSCDC operatives.

Speaking during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters on Friday, the State Commandant, Bala Bodinga, said the arrests were made after operatives acted on credible intelligence.

“On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at about 0230hrs, operatives of the NSCDC Doguwa Division intercepted and apprehended a notorious Indian hemp (Wiwi) dealer, Yusuf Alasan, 25, a resident of Doguwa town, along with two other adults, Muktar Musa and Musa Sani,” Bodinga said.

He explained that the suspects were caught transporting three large sugar-sized sacks filled with marijuana on a motorbike from Doguwa town to Kafau in the same local government area.

Bodinga added that preliminary investigations had been concluded by the corps, leading to the formal handover of the suspects and the exhibits to the NDLEA Kano State Command for further investigations and necessary legal action.

He reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to working closely with other security agencies in the state to combat criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents.

“The command will continue to collaborate with sister security agencies to frustrate the evil plans of criminals and ensure Kano remains peaceful,” he said.

It will be recalled that on August 6, 2025, the NSCDC Kano Command also arrested two suspected criminals involved in drug dealing and burglary in separate operations a development the command described as another breakthrough in its fight against crime.
