AFCON: SPORTS COMMISSION COMMENDS SETTING UP OF MORE VIEWING CENTRES

Director-General, Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), Lekan Fatodu has commended the Lagos State Government for the establishment of additional viewing centres at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena, Onikan, to increase the total to 26 Viewing Centres across the State.

Fatodu gave the commendation during an interview with reporters at the Rowe Sports Centre, Yaba, on Wednesday, describing the initiative as a noble idea to promote sports and community cohesion among the citizens.

He said Lagos State is a magnet to some great initiatives across many advanced and developed societies, adding that sports play a critical role in society and the AFCON Viewing Centres are not just for entertainment but a stimulant for sports enthusiasts.

“The Lagos State Government has deemed it fit to ensure no one is left behind in experiencing the thrills of sports, especially, football”, he said.

He also stated that the Onikan Viewing Centre was designed as a mega platform to enhance interaction with the fusion of entertainment and sports which is a positive image building for the Lagos State Government

Responding to questions on the forthcoming Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, Fatodu said the race, which has become a unique global label of excellence, has ensured that the event is not only ranked among the big marathons worldwide but has enormous potential to boost tourism in the State.

“Lagos State is ready for business, a connecting point for entrepreneurs and enterprise, an attraction for sporting activities, entertainment, manufacturing and information technology and they have a feel of this through Marathon under Lagos State Sports Commission”, Fatodu
said.
