LASWARCO CAUTIONS WATER PRODUCERS TO BE WARY OF FRAUDSTERS
The Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LASWARCO) has warned Water Producers, particularly those operating in Oshodi – Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State, against the activities of fraudsters impersonating the Commission’s officers to scam them.
A release issued on Friday and signed by Mrs. ‘Funke Adepoju, Executive Secretary of LASWARCO said the Commission has been inundated with information that a group of persons numbering about seven men and women have been extorting money from some water producers around the Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State.
She stated clearly and unequivocally that the group does not represent any agency of government, stressing that they are impostors and impersonators who are out to extort and defraud their victims.
In her words, “The perpetrators are neither from the Lagos State Ministry of Health nor the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission”.
Adepoju, therefore, advised the Associations and Groups of packaged water service producers to be conscious of the situation, imploring them to immediately report the activities of these unscrupulous elements, whenever approached, to the nearest police station.
She added that Water Producers who are visited by this group of persons should also reach out to the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission at Block 19, 3rd Floor, The Secretariat, Alausa Ikeja, or call 08168782223.
