A police source and prosecutors stated on Friday that a guy who had climbed on top of a stalled Eurostar train in Paris died from an electric shock.

Around 10:00 p.m. (2100 GMT) on Thursday, the man crossed over tracks to board the Eurostar from another platform at the Gare du Nord station, according to a police source. The source continued, “He suffered a shock and died on the scene approximately thirty minutes later.

” The individual was recognised by the police as a migrant, and they added that he was seen crossing the tracks in security camera footage. However, the state of the body precluded a more accurate identification.

Prosecutors in Paris announced that they had launched an inquiry that will be overseen by border guards at the Gare du Nord.

From there, Eurostar trains connect Paris to the capital cities of Belgium and the Netherlands, Brussels and Amsterdam, as well as to London through the Channel Tunnel.

The fatality on Thursday occurred after London and Paris said last week that they would intensify measures to stop irregular migrant crossings to the UK, the majority of which occur via small boats across the Channel.
