CRIME: LAGOS PASTOR ARRAIGNED FOR ALLEGEDLY RAPING, IMPREGNATING DAUGHTER
Tuesday saw the arraignment of Emmanuel Orekoya, a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, before the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on allegations that he had raped and impregnated his 17-year-old daughter.
The Lagos State Government has proposed two counts of illicit sexual intercourse and sexual assault against the defendant.
Additionally, it was learned that the defendant allegedly impregnated his daughter while they were having sex.
Mrs. Abimbola Abolade, the state’s prosecutor, informed the court that the defendant had committed the charges at some point in 2017 in the state’s Odoeran, Itire region on Jacob Adeleye Street.
Additionally, the prosecution mentioned before the court that Orekoya had sexually abused the woman by sticking his finger and penis inside her mouth.
The prosecutor said that Orekoya’s actions violated Section 137 of Lagos State’s 2015 criminal code.
Nonetheless, the accused entered a not guilty plea to the accusations made against him.
The matter was postponed by Justice Soladoye until April 17, 2024, when the trial was to begin.
