
COURT REMANDS MAN FOR RAPING HIS DAUGHTER
Christopher Israel, 42, is accused of raping his 22-year-old daughter, according to an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate’s Court decision on Wednesday. Israel is to be placed under detention in the correctional facility.
Israel was accused by the police of assault and rape.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olubunmi Bamidele, did not take Israel’s plea for want in the jurisdiction.
She gave the order for the suspect to be placed under arrest at the Ado Ekiti correctional facility while the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions provided legal counsel.
The matter was postponed until November 6th for discussion.
Israel committed the crime at Ado-Ekiti on September 21, the prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, had earlier informed the court.
He claimed that during his daughter’s visit, Israel had sexually assaulted his 22-year-old daughter and had injured her while she was fighting with him.
He said that the offense was against Sections 265 and 256 of the Ekiti State 2021 Criminal Law.
In order to await legal counsel from the DPP’s office, the prosecutor pleaded with the court to remand Israel.
