Dalori, who served as the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the APC, ascended to the position of acting chairman of the party subsequent to the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje from his role as national chairman.

Ganduje, representing the North-West region, took over the leadership of the party in August 2023, succeeding his predecessor, Abdullahi Adamu, from the North-Central region.

In a statement on Saturday, APC governors under the aegis of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) unanimously welcomed Ganduje’s resignation, saying it aligned with the party’s “continued evolution”.

The resolution was taken as the PGF concluded a two-day strategic regional meeting in Benin City, Edo State, on Saturday, hosted by the governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
