Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have reportedly stormed the Green Legacy Hotel, located within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) premises in Abeokuta, Ogun State, arresting several youths suspected to be internet fraudsters.

The raid, said to have been carried out by operatives from the Lagos Directorate of the commission, took place in the early hours of Sunday during a pool party at the facility.

Eyewitnesses said the operation caused panic, with a viral video showing youths fleeing as gunshots rang out. The EFCC operatives allegedly seized over 20 luxury cars and other valuable items during the raid.

The incident comes just five days after the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate arrested 56 suspected internet fraudsters including one found with two locally-made pistols during a raid on K-Hotel in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Confirming Sunday’s incident, the Managing Director of OOPL Ventures, Vitalis Ortese, said, “Yes, they did. There was an incident this morning. We will find out and we will let you know.”

When contacted, EFCC Lagos Zonal Command spokesperson, Ayo Oyewole, said he was not yet aware of the operation but promised to provide details later.
