The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 22-year-old man for the attempted rape of two women he allegedly caught stealing pepper on a farm in Osogbo.
In a statement on Monday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Kehinde Adeleke, said the suspect, whose name was not disclosed, apprehended the women at a farm in Ita-Olokan, Osogbo, and threatened to hand them over to law enforcement unless they allowed him to have sexual intercourse with them.

Although the farm did not belong to the suspect, Adeleke explained that he took advantage of the situation to make sexual advances. While one of the women managed to escape, the other was physically assaulted as the suspect attempted to have carnal knowledge of her.
“According to the suspect’s confession, he only laid on the victim and ejaculated prematurely because he feared the other woman who escaped might alert people nearby,” Adeleke stated.
In another development, Adeleke revealed that the Command had arrested two suspects for encroaching on government land at the Oke-Osun area. The suspects allegedly destroyed land demarcations, excavated sand, and sold it to unsuspecting buyers.
Investigations indicated that several truck drivers had been frequenting the site to illegally extract and sell sand.
Restating the Command’s resolve to rid the state of criminal elements, Osun NSCDC Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, urged residents to report suspicious activities to security agencies for swift action.
