AIRLINE OPERATORS CONSIDER COMFORT EMMANSON AS AMBASSADOR FOR GOOD CONDUCT – KEYAMO
By Aishat Momoh. O.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has revealed that the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) is considering appointing Comfort Emmanson, an Ibom Air passenger recently remanded for alleged unruly behaviour, as an ambassador for good passenger conduct.
In a statement on Wednesday, Keyamo said the move followed Emmanson’s show of remorse and release from prison custody earlier in the day after the complaint against her was withdrawn.
“Whilst the aviation agencies are considering using KWAM 1 for such a role, in my discussion last night with the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), they are also looking at the option of using Ms. Comfort Emmanson, who has also shown remorse, as their own ambassador for good passenger conduct,” the minister stated.
The development comes a week after the Federal Government announced that Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, would serve as an unpaid ambassador for airport security protocol. This followed his attempt to block a moving aircraft at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on August 5, 2025.
Addressing public criticism of the ambassadorial roles, Keyamo explained that such appointments were voluntary, unpaid, and similar to community service, where repentant offenders publicly advocate against the same misconduct they once committed.
Emmanson was discharged on Wednesday by Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami after the five counts against her were struck out. She had been accused of assaulting a flight attendant and confronting security agents at the Lagos airport on Sunday, leading to her arraignment and remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre when she failed to meet bail conditions.
Following the incident, the AON imposed a lifetime no-fly ban on her. Keyamo, while condemning her behaviour, also criticised the circulation of a viral video showing her with a torn top, directing action against Ibom Air officials responsible for the leak.
Would you like me to also prepare a shorter, punchier newswire version of this so it’s ready for media release?
