NPF FEMALE OFFICERS DEMAND APOLOGY OVER ‘MALICIOUS’ PROMOTION ATTACKS

Female officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have condemned what they described as “unwarranted and malicious” attacks targeting their recent promotions, calling for an immediate retraction and public apology from those behind the statements.
In a press release signed by the Force Gender Advisor to the Inspector-General of Police, AIG Aishatu Abubakar Baju, Ph.D., OON, mni, the officers expressed shock and disappointment over comments allegedly led by activist Omoyele Sowore and his associates, which singled out female officers for criticism while leaving their male counterparts promoted under the same process unmentioned.
The statement stressed that promotions in the NPF are earned strictly on merit through years of exemplary service or exceptional performance and that women who meet these standards are equally entitled to recognition and career advancement as men.
Describing the insinuations of unmerited promotions as “deep-seated misogyny,” the female officers said such remarks undermine the sacrifices and professionalism of women in uniform who risk their lives daily to protect the nation.
“Female police officers are dedicated public servants, mothers, sisters, and wives who deserve the utmost respect and dignity,” the statement read.
They reaffirmed their commitment to professionalism, integrity, and national security, warning that no amount of intimidation or smear campaigns would deter them from their duties.
