The Ogun State Government has announced a two-week extension for property owners and occupiers affected by the ongoing physical development audit exercise to submit their title documents.

According to the government, the extension aims to provide additional time for property owners and developers to either submit their planning permits or visit the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development and its agencies to “regularise their unapproved developments.”

This update was shared in a statement issued in Abeokuta by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tunji Odunlami.

“This extension demonstrates the goodwill of the State Government in response to representations made by a cross-section of the affected property owners both in Sagamu and Ijebu-Ode and reflects its commitment to the rule of law and transparency,” the statement read.

The government, however, clarified that this gesture of leniency “does not derogate from what its constitutional and statutory actions have already carried out on the matter.”

Reiterating the purpose of the audit, the state stressed that the ongoing exercise in Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode, and other parts of Ogun is “not a witch hunt of any individual or organisation,” but part of a broader, continuous effort to promote “sustainable urban development across the state.”
