The Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) has reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism and public trust through a three-day leadership and capacity-building workshop for its senior officers and zonal heads.

The training, themed “Behind the VIO Badge: Transforming Perceptions, Building Trust,” was organised in collaboration with the Civility Institute of Nigeria to enhance officers’ leadership skills, emotional intelligence, and communication for ethical and people-centred service delivery.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, described the initiative as transformative, saying it would help officers adopt strategies to improve public perception and reinforce confidence in the agency. He stressed that trust is built on transparency, consistency, and civility, urging participants to embody professionalism and empathy in their duties.

Director of VIS, Engr. Akin-George Fashola, said the training marks a major milestone in the agency’s reform agenda aimed at rebuilding public confidence and promoting civility among officers. “We want our officers to be true ambassadors of safety, discipline, and integrity. This initiative reinforces the values that define our identity behind the uniform,” he said.

He added that the programme aligns with the Lagos State Government’s broader vision of developing a disciplined, responsive, and service-driven workforce across the transport management sector.
