FATHER OF SOUTHPORT KILLER TELLS INQUIRY SON BEAT HIM AND THREATENED TO KILL HIM BEFORE TRIPLE MURDER
Agency Report

The father of teenage murderer Axel Rudakubana, who killed three young girls during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport last year, has told a UK inquiry that his son had become violent, abusive, and had once threatened to kill him.
Speaking remotely to the inquiry on Wednesday, Alphonse Rudakubana, who fled Rwanda after surviving the 1994 genocide, said his “beautiful boy” changed drastically after being expelled from school in 2019 for carrying a knife.
“He used to beat me up,” the distraught father told the inquiry, which is examining the circumstances surrounding the July 2024 triple murder that triggered Britain’s worst riots in decades.
Axel Rudakubana, now serving a life sentence, stabbed to death six-year-old Bebe King, seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe, and nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar when he was just 17.
Recalling his son’s violent behaviour, Alphonse said Axel suffered “frightening outbursts” sometimes twice a day and once poured oil over his head during an argument.
In another chilling encounter, Axel allegedly poked his father in the chest and said:
“If you get me out of here, this house, it may take a day, a week, maybe years, I will kill you and trust me I will kill you.”
“He looked serious at me, and it was quite frightening,” Alphonse said.
The father revealed that he and his wife had reported some of the incidents to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) but admitted not reporting all of them for fear their son would be taken away.
Earlier, Axel’s brother, Dion Rudakubana, told the inquiry their father had warned him to be “careful” around Axel just days before the deadly attack.
The inquiry, chaired by a retired senior judge, has powers to compel witnesses to testify. While its findings will not be legally binding, its recommendations are expected to shape future policy on youth violence and mental health interventions.
