The weeklong celebrations marking the first 100 days in office (second term) of Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, culminated on Friday, November 7, 2025, with the grand finale at the council secretariat, Ketu, Lagos, featuring the distribution of Renewed Hope Palliatives to 2,000 beneficiaries.
The “Renewed Hope in Motion” initiative has seen the commissioning of several strategic infrastructure projects across the LCDA aimed at improving accessibility, boosting economic activity, and enhancing the living standards of residents.
Earlier this week, the Mayoress commissioned Adetuberu Street, Isaac Omole Street, and Temitayo Obisanya Street in Olowora community, describing them as projects symbolizing “access that drives growth and governance that touches lives.”
On Wednesday, four roads within Bello Folawiyo Estate were commissioned — Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada Street, Solomon Niran Aluko Street, Bello Folawiyo Street, and Yetunde Owoseni Close.
According to Princess Bada, “These roads are not mere asphalt; they are symbols of responsiveness, speed, and sincerity in governance…In one decisive move, we commenced all four roads at once, and in record time, we delivered them back-to-back. That is what Renewed Hope looks like at the grassroots — promises made, promises delivered.”
She emphasized the social and economic benefits, noting improvements in traffic flow, mobility, safety, and the overall quality of life for residents.
Thursday marked the commissioning of the new Mile 12 International Market (Phase II), part of a three-phase redevelopment aimed at transforming the market into a modern commercial hub.
Princess Bada described the project as a “major milestone in her administration’s drive to promote economic growth and improve the living standards of residents.”
She added, “Before the reconstruction, the Mile 12 market was overcrowded, disorganized, and unsafe. The Phase II redevelopment has introduced better facilities, improved road access, enhanced security, and a more organized layout for traders and customers.”
Market leaders expressed gratitude for the project. The Iyaloja General of Mile 12, Alhaja Iyabo Ahmed, said, “Before the reconstruction, the market environment was often flooded and unhygienic, making it difficult for traders and customers to access…This project is a reflection of her passion for grassroots development.”
Similarly, Alhaji Shehu Usman Samba, Chairman of the Perishable Section, described Princess Bada as “a true grassroots politician who understands the needs of the people and responds to them without being told…The successful completion of the second phase of the market redevelopment is a testament to her commitment, and we are optimistic that Phase III will further enhance the market’s infrastructure and business potential.”
The commissioning events also drew high-profile attendees, including community stakeholders, government officials, and political leaders.
Chief Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke, former Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, said, “Samiat has transformed Ikosi-Isheri… She is representing womanhood very well, grassroots governance very well…You’ve meant so much to this area, to the party, and to womanhood.”
Senator Gbenga Ashafa, former Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority and former Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, praised the Mayoress, saying, “Your leadership within this short but impactful period has demonstrated a clear vision, deep commitment, and a profound sense of duty to the people you serve.
“Your administration’s strides, most notably, the imminent opening of the New Mile 12 International Market (Phase II), speak volumes of your foresight and passion for inclusive economic development.
“Above all, your introduction of the Monthly Renewed Hope Cash Support Programme, providing N100,000 to 500 residents, demonstrates a bold and compassionate effort to bring tangible relief and dignity to families amid economic challenges.”
The weeklong activities have combined infrastructure development, market modernization, and social empowerment, showcasing a comprehensive model of grassroots governance.
With the grand finale concluding the 100-day celebration, Princess Bada reiterated that the administration remains committed to ensuring that no community under her leadership is left behind.
She said, “Our Renewed Chapter has only started. As long as I remain your Chairman, governance will continue to reach every home, every street, and every heart. Because here in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Renewed Hope lives here.”
