The All Progressives Congress in Cross River State just named Ntufam Ekum Ojogu as its acting chairman. This comes right after the party removed Alphonsus Eba, accusing him of misusing party funds, acting too autocratically, and failing to pay stipends to officials at the local level.

On Thursday, at the APC Secretariat in Calabar, party leaders introduced Ojogu to the public. He promised to steady the party and get everyone working together, especially at the grassroots.

Ojogu thanked God for the opportunity and said he felt both humbled and honored to step into this new role. He told party members he’s noticed their support and loyalty throughout the transition, and that their unity shows just how much they all care about the party and the state. He promised they’d put in the work—day and night—to make sure people actually see the benefits of democracy in their lives.

He said party leaders voted Eba out because they’d lost confidence in him and wanted to bring back order and accountability.

“I really want to thank everyone who stood their ground for due process and stability in the party. Big thanks to the Chapter Chairmen from all 18 local government areas. You’re the ones keeping the party’s flame burning at the grassroots,” he said.

Ojogu also praised the chapter chairmen, ward executives, polling unit coordinators, and volunteers for keeping the party’s structure strong and active.

He also promised open-door leadership, saying he would remain accessible to party members at all times.

The acting chairman reaffirmed loyalty to Governor Bassey Otu and called on members to put aside differences and unite behind the administration’s development agenda.
