The Lagos State Government, through the Office of the Head of Service (HoS), on Thursday, December 4, 2025, held the 2025 Pens-Down Ceremony in honour of 17 retired Permanent Secretaries who have concluded over three decades of dedicated and unblemished service to the State.
The colourful event, held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, The Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, brought together top government officials, senior civil servants, family members, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the careers, achievements, and lasting contributions of the retirees.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, described the event as a celebration of commitment, perseverance, and exceptional public service.
He noted that every public servant aspires to begin their career well and end it even stronger, in good health and sound mind—an accomplishment he said the celebrants had attained.
Agoro welcomed dignitaries and guests, describing the day as unique because it honoured individuals who had collectively given more than 30 years of exemplary service to Lagos State.

He thanked God for preserving their lives and expressed the government’s deep appreciation for their “unquestionable loyalty, commitment, dedication, and sacrifices,”which had helped shape the growth and development of the state.
The Head of Service also assured the retirees that their relationship with Lagos State does not end with their exit from service, adding that their wealth of experience would continue to be engaged through the Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries (ALARHOSPS).

He expressed gratitude to the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, for his continuous support of public service initiatives and commended the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. ’Sunkanmi Oyegbola, and her team for organising a befitting ceremony.
Responding on behalf of the 17 retired Permanent Secretaries, Mrs. Adekanye Amudat thanked God for granting them the grace to witness the occasion.
She also expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government for the honour bestowed on them, assuring that although retired, they remained “not tired.”

She pledged their continued support and prayers for the advancement of Lagos State.
The ceremony featured tributes, citations, presentations, and commendations highlighting the achievements and legacies of the departing Permanent Secretaries.
Officials praised their dedication to excellence, professionalism, and the values that define the Lagos State Public Service.
Dignitaries from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies were in attendance to celebrate the retirees and reflect on the impact they made throughout their years of service.
