The new batch of noncareer ambassadors nominated by the President has been sent to the Senate. The new nominees include the immediate past Sole Administrator of Rivers State and former Chief of Naval Staff, Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas; former presidential aide, Ita Enang; former Imo State First Lady, Chioma Ohakim; and former Minister of Interior and former Chief of Army Staff, Abdulrahman Dambazau.

On Thursday, the nominations were unveiled in plenary, following Senate President Godswill Akpabio‘s reading of the presidents letter in the chamber.

In the correspondence, Tinubu called on the Senate to promptly review the nominees in order to occupy important diplomatic roles.

The list, signed by the President, includes former Navy Commander, Chief of Staff to the Chief of Army, former Envoy to the United States, and former Chief of Staff to the Vice President.

The list was read on the floor of the chamber by the Senate President.

In his letter, Tinubu requested the Senate to promptly evaluate the nominees in order to fill important diplomatic roles.

Akpabio has sent the list to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, instructing them to review the nominees and provide a report within a week.
