ADELEKE LEFT PDP DUE TO INTERNAL ISSUES, WHICH MADE HIM A VICTIM OF CIRCIMSTANCE- PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party says Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke left the party because of internal issues that the leadership didn’t handle properly. They called him “a victim of circumstance.”
Ini Ememobong, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, told Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Thursday that the problems leading to Adeleke’s departure grew because the party didn’t address them in time.
Ememobong said Adeleke’s exit could have been avoided because “every problem is caused by people and therefore should have a human solution.”
He added that if the party leadership had acted quickly and firmly, they could have stopped the tension that eventually made the governor leave.
“At the level of leadership to which he belonged in the party, the party ought to have acted decisively,” he said.
He said the PDP’s problems inside were caused by themselves and warned that political fights get worse when they’re not addressed.
“The challenge is that immediately we begin to feed the monster without knowing we will end up in the belly of the monster, after a while, we become victims.
Ememobong added that the cracks within the party became visible in 2023 and should have been addressed with “strong action.” Instead, he said, the leadership chose negotiations, hoping tempers would cool.
“You also cannot fully blame them,” he said, “because sometimes they think that with negotiations, when passions are calm, people could reconsider their position, but unfortunately, it didn’t.”
He pointed out that the main reason for the party‘s collapse was the controversial PDP convention in Ibadan. During this event, important members were expelled, new national leaders were chosen, and there was a lot of tension inside the party. He said that Adeleke left because of “circumstances linked to indirect responsibilities that he can’t fully escape.”
