FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT IN JIGAWA CLAIMS SEVEN LIVES, 14 INJURED

A tragic motor accident in Jigawa State has resulted in seven fatalities and left fourteen others injured.

Police spokesman SP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident in a statement to The Media on Monday, noting that “the accident occurred on Sunday evening along the Chaichai–Ringim road.”

He explained that the accident occurred after two vehicles collided head-on at Yakasawa village in Ringim Local Government Area.

“Seven people lost their lives, while fourteen others were hospitalized following a collision involving a Golf 3 wagon and a Sienna at Yakasawa village in Ringim LGA,” he stated.

He stated that the injured have been admitted to Ringim General Hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.

The police, however, urged road users to avoid dangerous overtaking, refrain from overloading, and comply with all traffic regulations.

The incident comes just days after nearly fifty people lost their lives in various road accidents and a canoe capsize in Jigawa State.

Residents attributed most of the accidents to drivers overloading passengers and goods, and they urged relevant authorities to take urgent measures to curb the recurring problem.
