Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly threatened to step away from the national team and return to Turkey.
According to Arise News, the 27-year-old was frustrated following an on-field disagreement with teammate Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s 4-0 victory over Mozambique in Monday’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations match.
Despite scoring twice, assisted by Lookman, Osimhen reportedly expressed his displeasure when he felt a pass was withheld in the 64th minute. He subsequently requested to be substituted and was replaced by Moses Simon.
At the end of the match, Osimhen is said to have left the stadium, leaving his accreditation card behind, and indicated that he wished to disengage from the national team. He was later reassured by senior officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
