POLICE LAUNCH MANHUNT FOR SINGER PORTABLE OVER ALLEGED ASSAULT ON ASHABI SIMPLE

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has reportedly evaded police arrest following an alleged physical altercation involving his fourth partner, actress Ashabi Simple.
The incident is said to have occurred on Thursday, January 1, 2026, during Ashabi’s visit to the singer’s bar in Ogun State.
A video circulating online shows Ashabi confronting the singer while holding onto his clothing, expressing frustration over being repeatedly referred to as his “baby mama” and insisting that she should be acknowledged as his wife.
According to reports, Ashabi confronted the singer during the incident, urging him to acknowledge her as his wife rather than referring to her as a “baby mama.” Witnesses say Portable reacted by pushing her aside and insisting that he recognizes only one woman his wife, Bewaji while describing other women with whom he has children as baby mamas.

The exchange reportedly intensified the confrontation, with Ashabi responding emotionally before the situation escalated further.
Following the incident, Ashabi, accompanied by her siblings, filed a complaint with the police, accusing the singer of assault and abuse.
In a subsequent video shared on Instagram, the actress alleged that police officers later visited Portable’s residence, where they met his pregnant wife, Bewaji, but the singer was nowhere to be found.
Ashabi also recounted events leading up to the incident, stating that she had been celebrating the New Year with her family before Portable contacted her, asked her to visit him, and requested that she bring food to his location.
She further alleged that after arriving at the bar and meeting the singer outside as instructed, a minor disagreement ensued, during which she was slapped and physically assaulted. She also claimed that their phones were seized and that she and her siblings were threatened with an axe.
The incident has since sparked widespread reactions online, with social media users expressing mixed opinions. While some criticised Ashabi for allegedly forcing herself into the situation, others questioned her self-esteem, as the debate continues across various platforms.
