The Lagos State Government has dismissed reports alleging a strained relationship between Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, describing the claims as false and misleading.

The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile.

Akosile said the reports, which appeared on some blogs and online platforms, inaccurately suggested a rift between the two governors, stressing that such narratives do not reflect the reality of their relationship.

According to the statement, Governors Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun maintain a strong and cordial working relationship, characterised by frequent engagements and ongoing collaboration on matters of mutual interest.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Prince Dapo Abiodun share a warm and brotherly relationship. They engage regularly and work together on initiatives that advance development in both Lagos and Ogun states,” the statement noted.

Akosile added that the long-standing cooperation between the two leaders is reinforced by the shared boundaries and socio-cultural ties between Lagos and Ogun states, making close collaboration both natural and necessary.

He cautioned individuals and platforms spreading false information to refrain from actions capable of creating unnecessary tension, emphasizing that both governors remain committed to a shared vision of improving the welfare and quality of life of residents in their respective states.
