OSUN 2026: ADELEKE REMAINS ACCORD PARTY’S SOLE GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE — PARTY CHAIR REAFFIRMS

BY: ELIZABETH ADEWALE
Chairman of the Accord Party in Osun State, Victor Akande, has reiterated that Governor Ademola Adeleke remains the party’s sole candidate for the August 8 governorship election in the state.
Akande further declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, pose no threat whatsoever to Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid.
Speaking with reporters in Osogbo yesterday, the party chairman described the alleged candidacy of Clement Bamigbola from the Accord Party as a futile exercise, emphasizing that Governor Adeleke remains the party’s sole candidate.
According to him, “The so-called primary allegedly conducted by a non-existent faction is nothing but a sham; such a faction has no legal standing within our party structure.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has always engaged with Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem in previous elections in states like Anambra and Ekiti, and I assure you the situation in Osun will be no different.
“Those spreading rumors about a factional candidate are merely political opportunists seeking attention and personal gain. I can categorically state that Governor Adeleke has no rival for the party’s ticket.”
On the prospect of losing to an APC candidate, Akande noted that the people of Osun had already rejected the APC in 2022 and would make their stance even clearer in August by re-electing Governor Adeleke for another four-year term.
He added, “We are well aware of APC’s track record and how they governed when in power. The party reduced workers to beggars by paying only half salaries. We will not return to such an era.”
He added, “The people rejected the APC at the 2022 polls and will make their voices even louder in August to show that Osun does not want the party to return the state to an era of darkness.”
